Junior Badminton in Canterbury

In Badminton, the term “Juniors” refers to anyone under the age of 19.  In Christchurch there are many opportunities for juniors of all levels to develop skills, play sport and have fun, and for those who want something a bit more competitive to go on and play in tournaments and possibly represent Canterbury.

If you, or your child, is new to the sport, we suggest that you try one of our Shuttletime groups (after school programs) or a local club.  If you can’t see one in your area, then please contact us, as we are setting up groups throughout the city as the facilities become available and the demand arises.  During the school holidays we also run school holiday programs from our hall at 220 Pages Road, these are suitable for all non-representative players.

For those who are looking to be a bit more competitive, you can view our tournaments here.  Please note that older Juniors can often enter the senior tournaments, dependent on their ability – it’s best to talk with the coach about this first.  Potential representative players are chosen from these tournaments.  Any players that are wanting to be considered for selection should talk to their coach to put their name forwards to selectors.

For schools looking to have one of our Shuttletime Coaches come in and teach badminton to your students, you can view our Schools page.
