Our Accredited Coaching Program

At Badminton Canterbury, we are proud to support a coaching network that is fully accredited through Badminton New Zealand (BNZ) and aligned with the BNZ Coaching Framework. This ensures that every coach working with our players meets the highest standards in child safety, coaching ability, and professional development.

Whether you’re new to badminton or competing at a higher level, the coaches featured here are trained to deliver quality experiences tailored to each stage of a player’s journey.

BC Employed Coaches:

1. Hold current accreditation with BNZ
   1. • Police Vetted
      • Have signed the ‘Coaches Code of Ethics’
      • Have completed BNZ’s online module ‘Coaching on the back of the court’
2. Are trained to a minimum of Shuttle Time/Youth Leadership Award
3. Are classified into one of four categories
   1. • Tier 1: Have BWF Level 1 Qualification (Or BNZ Level 2) with 3+ years of experience coaching representative teams or BWF Level 2 qualification
      • Tier 2: BWF Level 1 qualification (or BNZ Level 2)
      • Other: BNZ Level 1, or Shuttle Time/Youth Leadership Award qualification
4. Complete 4 hours of professional development each year
5. Are First Aid Certified
